Announcing the 2008 24 Hour Endurance Race benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! Now in its third year, this event has raised nearly $20,000 for LLS and has challenged sailors in many ways. This year's event promises to be even more noteworthy for LLS, while remaining one of the most challenging one-design races in North America. By racing for 24 hours straight in this LeMans-style competition, sailors will push their bodies, equipment, and skills to the limit in an effort to be the champions of the 24 Hour Endurance Race.
But the challenge begins long before the boats are launched: Each team petitions friends, family, coworkers and businesses to pledge a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on behalf of their team. The team raising the most funds for LLS will take home the coveted Mike Smith Award, knowing that they have truly made a difference!
Of course, while the both the cause and the race are taken seriously, competitors and spectators alike can relax and enjoy the atmosphere on shore with great food, entertainment, and camaraderie.
So challenge your club to put a team together and join us for the Leukemia Cup Regatta at LYC! Start by downloading the Notice of Race and put a team together with you friends, fleet or club. Print the Fundraising Guide and a Pledge Sheet to record donations and set up a team website to raise funds online! Ask your friends, family, and co-workers to donate to LLS in the name of your team and start making a difference today!
