Proposed Constitutional Changes

The following constitutional changes will be considered at Docks Out, Sat. Nov. 7th.

1. Article III – Membership shall be revised such that there shall be seven classes of membership. The seventh class shall be:

(7). Young Adult member shall be entitled to all the privileges of the club as defined for active members except dues will be one half of active members and initiation fee will be one-half (if applicable). Boat storage fees will remain at full rate. This classification is limited to applicants 18 to 28 years of age. All initiation fees will be waived if the applicant is currently a family member of his or her parents’ membership and the applicant applies for membership immediately upon termination of family membership eligibility. Also, the initiation fee would be waived for applicants who take an LYC Learn-to-Sail class in the year of application or those applicants who are members of a collegiate sailing team.

2. Article III – Section (1). Active membership definition shall be changed by adding the following paragraph:

No greater than 20 active members may be those who own only canoes, kayaks or rowing shells, but are non-sailors. These members shall pay full dues as otherwise defined, but be limited to no more than two hand-powered watercraft to be stored at LYC. Furthermore, rowing shells shall be limited to one or two person boats only. Nonsailing members who purchase a sailboat and become sailors will no longer be classified as non-sailors for purposes of this section. Applicants with sailboats shall be given priority on the membership waiting list, as applicable.
