So Long, Ol’ Salt

Robert Charles “Bob” Humpleby had friends everywhere. His favorite place was anywhere with water, preferably with a sailboat attached. He learned to love boats while in the Coast Guard during WW II. Commodore of Leatherlips Yacht Club in 1965, Bob raced into his 70’s and was still dreaming of racing at age 90. His daughter, Pam Humpleby Zych (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)), recounts that “being Commodore was the thing Dad was most proud of, and had the most fun doing, when he looked back on his life.” Bob passed away on Feb.17th, 2010. While in HomeReach Hospice, he wrote about his love for the water, and his love of sailing. He had collected Marine antiques, and one of the HomeReach artists, Theresa Neillgreen, drew pictures of the antiques. He is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn; his daughters, Pamela and Carolyn; his grandchildren, Alex, Dan, and Maggie; nephews, Richard and Charles; nieces, Jane Ann and Doris. For those who wish, donations to HomeReach Hospice made be made in Bob’s memory.
