Leatherlips history to be presented at Scioto Park

The monthlong performance being presented at Scioto Park, 7377 Riverside Drive, was written by Coffman theater teacher Dan Stowell and stars Dublin students, using historical knowledge provided by resident Jim Thompson.

Thompson’s journey into local history began in 2002, he said, when he volunteered to gather information about the founding of the Linworth United Methodist Church which ended with the book “Remembering Our Roots.”

“I volunteered to get pictures together and people kept requesting stuff so I decided to pull some information together,” he said. “It’s still going on. I’m doing supplements.”

“Leatherlips: Twin Clouds” will be performed at Scioto Park at 7 p.m. July 23, 24, 30 and 31. Performances might be canceled in the event of rain.

    Just an FYI, the club has a nice copy of “Last of the Wyandots” which members interested in reading may get in touch with club historian, Kathy Muenz.

    Had an enjoyable 1-1/2 hrs of entertainment at the Scioto Park this evening. The Dublin theatre group did a super job ! The weather was pleasant, the crowd was pleasing, it was free, and I met alot of nice individuals who made this event happen. Kudos to all of them.
    Their performance of the historical happenings of Chief Leatherlips was excellent. This was their first year and hopefully they will continue to have these on an annual basis. Great for history buffs around here.  Kathy muenz - LYC historian
