Without our members, Leatherlips would be nothing more than a clubhouse on the banks of the O’Shaughnessy Reservoir. LYC has a diverse membership consisting of hard-core (and not too hard-core) racers, pleasure sailors, and there are even members that simply enjoy the beautiful surroundings and sense of community. Everyone agrees, though, that there is no better way to enjoy a summer afternoon than spending it at Leatherlips Yacht Club.

Active Member – This is an exclusive membership that includes year-round boat storage, a key to the gate and clubhouse, and full rights and privileges of the club. The 2007 total cost is $460.93. This is derived from a $310 fee plus sales tax ($20.925) plus the boat storage fee of $130.
*There is a one-time Initiation fee, paid the first year you join as an active member. The 2007 cost of the initiation fee is $280.75. This is derived from a $263 fee plus sales tax ($17.753).
Provisional Member- This is available one time only to students of the LYC sailing instruction program at the time of graduation from their class. It entitles you to all the privileges of the club except the right to vote. Essentially it is the cost of just the initiation fee. Thus, the next year you only have to pay the Active fee (and never have to pay both active and initiation at the same time). The 2007 cost for this is $280.75. This is derived from a $263 fee plus sales tax ($17.753)
Inactive Member – This membership includes a gate key, publications, announcements, and an opportunity to participate in all events. You may not store or launch your own boat at the club, but may launch, dock, and sail boats belonging to Active members who have granted their express permission. Inactive memberships are only available to active members who wish to decrease their membership level. An Inactive member may become active again without repaying the initiation fee. The 2007 cost for an Inactive membership is $74.73. This is derived from a fee of $70.00 plus sales tax ($4.73).
Associate Member – A social membership that is the same as the Inactive member, except that the member was never an active member. If an Associate member wishes to become Active (launch/store a boat of their own), he will have to pay the initiation fee. The 2007 Associate membership is $$74.73. This is derived from a fee of $70.00 plus sales tax ($4.73).
