Learn to Sail
With a history of over 40 years of instruction, Leatherlips Yacht Club has taught more than 3,000 children and adults to sail. Pleasantly sited on the west shore of O’Shaughnessy Reservoir across from the Columbus Zoo, the building has a large patio close to the water. In the village of Shawnee Hills, the club primarily serves Dublin, Ohio, but sailors come from Powell, Columbus, Westerville, Alum Creek, and Hilliard.
Flying Juniors, or FJs, will be used as our primary teaching boats. We have a few Lasers for more advanced sailors, and two Lidos for those who desire a roomier more stable boat. We also have two new little boats, Oppis, to expand our teaching options. Other fleet boats, Daysailer and Thistle, will be used later in the course as an introduction to the Leatherlips fleets.
